Celebrating Onam With Our Cubbies

Onam is a super fun celebration for kids, filled with excitement and joy! We start by making beautiful pookalam, carefully arranging colorful flowers in intricate designs that brighten up our home and symbolize the spirit of the festival. Each day, we add more flowers, making it a fun activity to do with family and friends. Then comes the best part—helping in the kitchen! We taste all the delicious dishes like sambar, avial, and sweet payasam that will be part of the grand Onam sadhya. The wonderful aromas fill the house, and we eagerly await the feast. Dressing up in our traditional clothes makes us feel festive and connected to our culture. We love listening to stories about King Mahabali, the beloved ruler who visits us during Onam, bringing happiness and prosperity. It’s so much fun to hear how he makes sure everyone is happy and cared for! As the celebrations continue, we gather with friends to play traditional games like tug-of-war and even make our own mini boat races! Dancing to cheerful music fills the air with laughter and excitement, and we all join in the fun, showcasing our best moves. Onam is truly all about joy, togetherness, and making unforgettable memories with family. From the colorful decorations to the delicious food and joyful games, it’s a time when we come together to celebrate our culture and the bonds we share. Happy Onam!
